What's going on in the landscape?
Some people are meadow-scaping, installing all-native plantings, and switching to low-mow lawns. Pollinator patches are popping up in community and private spaces across the country. Demand for native plants continues to soar, straining some parts of the nursery trade and inspiring innovative start-ups.
Yet some people look at naturalized landscapes and see unkempt plants that are too tall. Some towns and homeowner associations have blight ordinances against native plantings and other non-lawn approaches to landscapes.
In the meantime, robots and drones are taking on the problems of invasive plants, insect invasions, and landscape maintenance. Battery-powered equipment is gaining space in garages and sheds. New, safer products are tackling old problems such as grub control.
Join this event for a lively "flyover" of a changing landscape, and what these changes mean for gardeners and landscapers.
